Expungement of Marijuana/Cannabis charges in Maryland

Maryland expungement laws continue to change. Under Maryland Criminal Procedure Statutes, many marijuana/cannabis charges that previously could not be expunged are now eligible for expungement. Even some possession with intent to distribute marijuana offenses may be expunged under certain circumstances.

Expungement removes information about a case from court and law enforcement records. This includes records kept by police departments, the court, the State’s Attorney’s Office and the Maryland Judiciary Case Search website.

Prior to requesting an expungement, it is good practice to obtain and keep a true test copy of the entire court file in case that information is needed in the future.
